Franklin Cook was reared in India, son of educational pioneers in that land. He later completed undergraduate work majoring in history and graduate degrees in theology culminating with a doctor of missiology from Trinity Seminary, Chicago.

Experiences have included teaching at the university level, administrative work at all levels of the Church of the Nazarene, extensive travel in many parts of the world and writing a number of articles and books. This culminated with fifteen years living in Europe, with responsibility for church work throughout Europe, the Middle East, South Asia, and the former Soviet Union. Along with this, Franklin spent seven years editing the primary print piece for the denomination.

Franklin is married to Maylou who was was born in Ohio, reared in Boston and Kansas City, daughter of a pastor and general church leader. She completed undergraduate work at Point Loma University, and graduate work in curriculum development from the University of Colorado. She has taught at all levels from elementary to university.

Franklin and Maylou have two children with their own careers.
